With March rolling in, Women’s History Month is a perfect time to discuss the strong and talented females that continue to shape the music industry today. Women such as Lana del Rey changed the pop music industry and inspired the newest generation of female artists in the industry, such as Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, Billie Eilish, Halsey, and Kali Uchis. Her melancholy and touching music reached the hearts of so many female artists who publicly acknowledged her as their inspiration.

Let’s not forget the achievements of those women whose hearts she’s won though. Powerful and influential artists like the previously mentioned Taylor Swift. Who has, without a doubt, changed the lives of many through her relatable and influential albums. Her world-breaking accomplishments in the music industry have won her several Grammys, domination of the billboard charts, and gained her immense money, fame, and fortune. She recently went on her world-renowned “Eras Tour” with a total of 152 shows across 5 continents. Eventually, releasing her own “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” movie, which is soon to be released on Disney+.

Another notable artist who truly mastered her craft is SZA. Mixing elements of R&B, Blues, Hip Pop, and Soul, she’s created music that explores a variety of female experiences and relationships. She’s received 44 awards for her music, including four Grammy awards and two Billboard Music awards. Notably, her song “Snooze” spent the entirety of 2023 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Beyoncé is another artist who has been famously known for mixing genres. Beyoncé is a multi-platinum singer who has won multiple Grammys. She explores many genres, such as R&B, Soul, Electronic and recently country music. Currently her newest song “Texas Hold ‘Em” is ranked number 1 on Billboard Hot 100. Many fans have been super excited over her announcement that she’ll be releasing a country music album. It’s no little thing to say the world will remember the name Beyoncé even into the far future.

While female rappers such as Nicki Minaj and Megan thee Stallion dominate social media over their “beef.” These are two women who have greatly influenced the rapping industry. Nicki is noticeably one of the best-selling music artists with over 100 million records sold worldwide. Earning her the title of the “Queen of Rap”. Meanwhile, Megan has received numerous awards over the span of her career, gaining an enormous amount of support from her fans. She’s won BET, American Music, MTV, Billboard, and Grammy awards.

All of these women have changed not only their individual industries but the generations to come. So many young women and men have and may continue to mature while listening to their music. It’s no downplay to state that they will be remembered as this generation’s greatest artist.
