What am I?

It was small, tan, and had a strong set of jaws that
Could open and shut tightly. It was owned by many old ladies
And had just as many pieces of hard candy inside of it in its lifetime.
It had a soft and silky body which had a coarse lacy net
Embroidered with leaves and vines covering it.
Many young children would watch eagerly as
Grandma opened it up to give them money or candy,
Because that is what grandmas do.
Now it is a souvenir from a bygone era leaving burning memories.
