Richmond’s One-Of-A-Kind Tattoo Convention

Richmond’s One-Of-A-Kind Tattoo Convention

Tattoo conventions have become a popular event in today’s world, with artists from all over coming together to showcase their work, learn new techniques, and most importantly, tattoo clients. These conventions are a hub of creativity and artistry, where like-minded individuals gather to celebrate their passion for ink. One such convention that stands out among the rest is AnimeInk, held annually in Richmond, Virginia.

AnimeInk is not your typical tattoo convention. While it follows the same format of artists gathering to tattoo clients and showcase their work, AnimeInk has a unique twist – it is the world’s first anime-centered/themed tattoo convention. This sets it apart from other tattoo cons, as it caters specifically to fans of anime and manga, creating a space where they can express their love for the art form through body ink.

Hosted in the Richmond Convention Center, AnimeInk attracts hundreds of tattoo artists from around the country, all eager to participate in this one-of-a-kind event. From intricate designs of popular anime characters to creative interpretations of beloved series, the artists at AnimeInk showcase their talent and skill in bringing anime-inspired tattoos to life.

Aside from tattooing, AnimeInk offers a range of activities for attendees to enjoy. From contests and cosplay awards to tattoo awards and art merchandise to browse and purchase, there is something for everyone at this convention. Whether you are a seasoned tattoo enthusiast or someone looking to explore the world of anime tattoos, AnimeInk provides a welcoming and inclusive space for all.

Owned and operated by Kimberly Graziano and Christian Moore, who each own tattoo shops of their own, AnimeInk is a passion project that brings together two of their loves – tattoos and anime. Through this convention, they have created a platform for artists and fans alike to come together and celebrate their shared interests in a vibrant and creative setting.

If you’re interested in attending the convention, it runs from October 4th to the 6th this year. It’s been around for five years now, having started in 2019, and then having to be halted due to the pandemic. It resumed in 2021 and has been an annual Richmond event ever since! For those looking to enter the tattoo industry or simply wanting to immerse themselves in the world of anime tattoos, AnimeInk offers a unique and unforgettable experience. With its focus on artistry, creativity, and community, this convention serves as a testament to the diverse and dynamic nature of the tattoo world.

I moved here from Oregonabout 4 years ago now, and while I do enjoy Virginia and cherish the connections I’ve madehere, a part of me will always miss the pacific northwest. After high school I plan to go to collegeto study either sequential art, animation, or film/screenwriting.
