The Masters Tournament, one of golf’s four major championships. It was founded by legendary golfer Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts. Initially, the tournament was named the “Augusta National Invitation Tournament” but was officially renamed the Masters in 1939. The Masters is held annually at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta Georgia, during the first full week of April. There are many days of preparation that lead up to this tournament including three other very important tournaments. The tournaments are the Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and the Open Championship/British Open. There have been only 5 people to ever complete the cycle. The newest one added to the group is Rory Mcllroy by winning the masters this past week.
Another notable thing to consider days leading up to the masters players meet and wife’s and families do as well. But, the champions dinner is held for each year’s past winners, and the par-3 contest which takes place Wednesday before the tournament. This tournament is broadcasted globally and brings in millions of viewers each year. Also brings a lot of people and fans to this tournament and Augusta from all over. And the last little thing that not a lot of sporting events have is the food. The price of the food is so cheap and that is almost like a tradition they have because the prices have been so low since the beginning when this tournament was first invented. To this day every item on this menu stands under $6 dollars including sandwiches, chips, ice cream, cookies and sodas or alcoholic beverages.
In conclusion, the Masters is a lot more than just a tournament or competition. The traditions and memories behind it makes this place and as well tournament so especially for these families and individuals golfers. With all these feelings and emotions heading into a tournament makes it so special and such a nice place to come and decompose and get away from life.
