Joe Burrow is a professional NFL quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. Burrow played for Louisiana State University in college and won the Heisman trophy and won the national championship his senior year. They went undefeated that year as well.
Burrow was drafted first overall in the 2020 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He started in 10 games but tore his ACL in week 10 against the Washington Commanders which ended his rookie season. He completed 264 passes out of 404 and had 2,688 passing yards. He threw for 13 touchdowns and had 5 interceptions.
Burrow had a breakout season his 2nd year. He led the Bengals to their first playoff win in 30 years against the Raiders. They made it all the way to the Super Bowl but lost to the Los Angeles Rams. Burrow had 4,611 passing yards and 34 touchdowns. He also had won the NFL comeback player of the year award.
Burrow’s third year in the NFL was pretty decent. He led the Bengals to the AFC championship for the second straight year. They unfortunately lost to the Chiefs 23-20. He had undergone emergency surgery before the season started to remove his appendix. He threw for 4,475 passing yards.
His fourth year in the NFL had some ups and downs. He suffered a right calf strain during training camp. He signed a five year 275 million dollar contract which made him the highest NFL player of all time. On November 16th 2023 against the Ravens in week 11 Burrow suffered a torn ligament in his right wrist. The day after the game the Bengals announced that it was a season ending injury.
Burrow’s fifth year in the NFL was amazing. Burrow was named AFC offensive player for the month of November. Burrow ended the season with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns, and he led both categories. He won comeback player of the year for the second time. The Bengals almost made the playoffs but missed by the Broncos winning.
