Teams in the NFL have been making big splashes this off-season. Before trades and free agency was opened up, teams went out and signed players that they felt would be a suitable fit for their organization. Many teams have also commonly hit big in the free agent market, as well as negotiating trades to appeal their needs. These teams include the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Washington Commanders, and so many more.
One of the biggest trades that shocked the world was the Seattle Seahawks trading away their star wide receiver that drafted in 2019, DK Metcalf out of Ole Miss. He has been a stud for them over the past couple years and has slowly been making his way to the top of the receiver charts. In this trade, the Seahawks traded Metcalf for a second and a seventh round pick in this year’s draft. On the other hand, the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired DK Metcalf and a sixth round pick in this year’s draft. This move was a major hit for the Pittsburgh Steelers, pairing him up with another young star receiver, George Pickens. This duo will run the AFC North for years to come and once the Steelers can get a liable quarterback, they will become an even bigger contender.
Another receiver who was on the market is the young and versatile, Deebo Samuel. He was traded to the Washington Commanders and in exchange, the San Francisco 49ers received a 2025 5th round draft pick. The Washington Commanders struck big with this trade, considering the fact that they drafted the best rookie from last year’s class in Jayden Daniels. Pairing those two star players will make for an electric and entertaining team to watch this upcoming season.
While the Seahawks got dismantled so far this off-season, they have also brought in some key players to help them stay steady and fill more gaps in order to fully rebuild. They went out and got the player who had the biggest breakout from last season in quarterback, Sam Darnold. They signed Darnold to a 3-year 100.5 million dollar contract. After seeing what he did with the Minnesota Vikings last year, they wanted to take a chance on him. To pair up with Darnold, they brought in an NFC West rival in wide receiver, 2021 triple crown winner, 2021 Super Bowl MVP, Cooper Kupp. Kupp has had a slight decline since his 2021 season due to injury but has still produced viable numbers that allowed him to get signed to a 3 year, 45 million dollar deal.
