Christmas break is coming up. It can be both fun and stressful, but how do the Gloucester High School students feel about it?
Christmas break is used for spending quality time with family and friends. I honestly believe that it is exciting and has a cozy feeling to it. Plus, it should be longer to open all the presents and fly out to see distant relatives.
The preparation of Christmas is another thing entirely. It can be anywhere from a joyful experience to being extremely chaotic. This is because you have to decorate, buy and wrap presents and buy all this Christmas-y food and drinks. But at the end of Christmas so many memories are made during the entire month, whether stressful or not.
If I could change one thing about Christmas, it would be how expensive items are. The prices keep rising for food/drinks, and for presents and wrapping utensils. Sometimes we cannot afford gifts for other people in our family during this season, which is really sad when you want to buy a gift for everyone.
Ariana Smolnski said Christmas as a whole is “…exciting because of the time for ourselves.” She also believes that Christmas break should be “…longer, so we have more time to get everything together.”
Smolnski commented that the preparation of Christmas is ”…stressful since there’s too much to do.” She said the only thing she would change about Christmas is her “family’s attitude.”
Charlotte Honchak is “…very excited for Christmas break,” and she believes that it needs to be “…a little bit longer for visiting family.” Honchak stated that the preparation is “…pretty crazy because we set up our house then we drive 14 hours to spend Christmas with the family.” The only thing Honchak would change about Christmas is “how cold it gets.”
Christmas break includes getting and buying gifts, spending time with family, and decorations. This makes Christmas a fun and joyful time. On the other hand, prices, limited time, and planning makes the break very stressful and chaotic.
