Everyday Positive Habits

There are many positive habits that people develop for different reasons. Along with positive habits that we should all be doing! These habits help us physically, mentally, and spiritually. Keeping habits everyday helps you have a stable routine, and they help make many other changes day by day.

Positive habits can be something that is more personal as well. For example, Annalise Helton said a positive habit she has is to “pray every time I’m driving; driving makes me nervous, so that helps me.” Without praying, Annalise feels nervous and on edge. Many people have similar feelings when they cut prayer out of their daily lives. Praying is a habit many religious believers have. It is something that can be made into a habit that many do in the morning and before bed. It is also good to pray anytime throughout the day. Praying can increase positivity, gratitude, compassion, forgiveness, and hope. That is why it is good to make sure you are praying every day.

Positive habits can also be simple things. Kayhla Winston said a positive habit she has is doing her skincare. Doing a skincare routine every day definitely helps your body physically and keeps your face clean and smooth. While it does help physically, it can also help you mentally feel better and more motivated for the day or ready for the night.

Another simple habit that many of us have is talking to our friends. It is good to stay social. As humans, we are all naturally social creatures, whether we want to be or not. It is always good to have people that you talk to. Kayhla said, “When I’m not calling my friends, I become lonely.” Not staying connected with friends can lead to negative emotions like loneliness.

Exercising is another habit that can be very good for you. Exercising daily not only helps you physically but also mentally. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals like endorphins and serotonin that improve your mood. Doing a physical activity every day, even for just 10 to 15 minutes, can have many good results. Annalise Helton likes to exercise daily because it keeps her energy up.

Kayhla Winston said a positive habit she has is journaling. Journaling can help with many things. For Kayhla, it helps her with self-reflection. Journaling can also help people gain control of their emotions, improve their mental health, and gain personal growth.

While these are some of the main positive habits people have, there are many others. For example, waking up early, practicing gratitude, spending time outside, and reading. The list can go on and on. It is important to have positive habits that you practice every day!

About the Contributor
Elizabeth Underwood
My name is Elizabeth Underwood, I am 17 years old. This is not my first time taking Journalism.I chose to take Journalism again because I enjoy writing. I think it is fun to research differenttopics for the articles you write about. It is also a great way to build confidence when it comes tointerviewing others for your articles. I enjoy writing articles on things that can be more on apersonal level for others. For example, mental health struggles. I am excited to write articles thissemester and work on becoming a better writer.
