During NJROTC’s Battalion formation on February 7, 2023, four Senior cadets received exclusive awards. Master Chief Nathaniel Quick, Company Executive Officer Micheal Gayle,
Company Commanding Officer Jenna Hammerbacher, and PT Officer Caleb Smith earned their drone wings. The award is for anyone who achieves their Part 107 FAA Remote Pilot Certificate
in Captain Merkle’s drone class. The award is a golden set of wings adorned with a print of a drone in the center.

Captain Merkle remarked that this was the first time this award has been achieved in the Gloucester High School NJROTC program. And Senior Chief Grant says that he hopes “This will not be the last time” these awards are passed out.
