Since college is a huge change, it is most likely going to have a big effect on your mental health. It can really stress you out with financial issues, grades, missing family and friends, and more responsibility. Here are some tips to help you with stress and mental health.
Getting a lot of sleep: You need to get at least six to eight hours of sleep every night, not procrastinating on work helps with this. It also helps your grades. It’s really hard to stay focused on class when you are tired, and it just makes you fall behind.
Self care: It’s really important to not be focused on grades constantly and to have some time for yourself like a hobby. You could read a book you enjoy, take walks, or spend time with your family and friends.
A healthy diet: An unhealthy diet could make you feel mentally and physically ill and tired. A good diet could ensure more energy and make you feel better overall.
Professional help: It may also help to seek out professional help such as a therapist. It usually has a bad reputation, but it doesn’t mean anything. They are there to help you and give you some guidance.
Build new relationships: You are going to be around a lot of new people. It’s good to have friends who are going through the same things you are that can relate.
Dealing with depression: There will be days where you feel tired, sad, or down. That is perfectly normal. If this happens, it is best to take some time to yourself and not stress and worry about work.
A safe place: It’s good to have a place where you can go to relax where you don’t feel stressed, trapped, and obligated to worry about other people. This could be the library, the beach, the forest, a lake, or a bridge.
