Marvel Comics Latest Film Release, Morbius, Is Sure To Please

Janelle Fuelling, Staff Reporter

Morbius is another superhero movie based on a Marvel Comic and released by Sony Pictures starring Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius and Matt Smith as Milo.  Released in the United States in April 2022, Morbius adds a new twist to Marvel’s Anti-hero franchise.  While the film did get major buzz by casting a big star like Jared Leto, there have been no announcements of a squeal, leaving fans to wonder if this was a one-off project.

The movie is about a Doctor, Michael Morbius, who has a rare blood disease and has spent years trying to find a cure. Coincidentally, his life-long friend and surrogate brother, Milo, also has the same rare disease.

Eventually, Morbius finds a cure and everything appears fine, but something unexpected happens to him during the curing process.  And, while Morbius tries to curb his new darkness, Milo embraces the darkness, quickly becoming Morbius’ archenemy that will ultimately end with them in a battle to the death.

The reason why I loved this movie was that it kept me engaged during the action packed scenes as Morbius fights his “cure” and the climatic ending that is characteristic of all Marvel Comic movies.  Interspersed with jaunty humor, Morbius provides the right amount of nail-biting suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat.  A word of warning though, Morbius is rated PG-13 for moderate violence and gore with frightening and intense scenes.
